Further to our previous
letter regarding the changes that NHS Tameside and Glossop (the PCT) is making
with NHS Orthodontic contracts locally, I am writing to update you on the
current position. Regrettably
I am sorry to inform you that NHS Tameside and Glossop have decided NOT to
commission or finance the practice for treatment of patients
who are on our current NHS
orthodontic waiting list. Additionally there is no likelihood of future
commissioning and finance for new patient orthodontic care with us. We are
disappointed at this decision, and I sincerely hope this does not unduly delay
your treatment. We will be sending
information back to the PCT about our NHS Ortho waiting list, they will then
reassign all patients on waiting lists in the area in order of entry to a
central waiting list. Patients will then be allocated to the Ortho providers
commissioned after April 2012. The PCT will be in contact
in due course to provide information on their process. If you are unhappy with
this decision I suggest you contact the PCT and also, for example, your MP and
local press (please see below). As I understand it, no contracts are yet in
place, so changes are still possible. As an alternative, if you
wish, we could provide treatment here under private contract. Please see website
www.shdp.co.uk/braces or ask at
reception. I hope this decision by
the PCT does not cause any unnecessary inconvenience or delay and I very much
regret we will not be able to provide your treatment on the NHS here in Glossop. May I thank you for your
