Her patients will have their care provided by either Dr Amanda Dixon or Dr Paul Dixon and we trust that this will prove acceptable. We appreciate a change of dentist can be unsettling and we will of course do all that we can to smooth the transition. She will be leaving on maternity on friday 16th march. Dr Amanda Dixon will be providing extra sessions to arrange cover for her patients. Dr Cornwell hopes to be returning by September 2007. 6/12/06 Au Revoir We are sorry that due to commitments studying for her further training Rebecca will be leaving at christmas, though she may provide occasional cover if required 6/11/06 Congratulations Congratulations to Vicky who has passed her Dental Health Educator post registration Qualification. This means she can now join Debs in providing help to our patients in keeping their mouths healthy. 9/10/06 New Nurse We welcome Stephanie Renshaw who joins us as a part time dental nurse having previously worked at Pendlebury Court as a care assistant and in the Army Medical Corps where she gained some dental experience. 10/9/06 Welcome Back We welcome back Rebecca Teasdale who returns to us from a practice in Marple. She has recently gained her Dental Radiography Certificate enabling her to take x-rays. 8/5/06 Change in nurses Alex has left to move back down south. We welcome Sarah Brocklehurst to replace her. 10/05/06 Capacity for NHS internal transfer We are currently able to accept the transfer of patients registered under the NHS at 31st March 2006, to Dr Paul Dixon. This includes patients who were registered then with Dr Bates or Dr Cornwell. 2/05/06 Change in nurses We are sorry to announce that Audrey is leaving us to be a receptionist at Manor House medical practice. However we are happy to welcome Clare Draper back to replace her. 1/04/06 NHS Funding Contrary to information in the local press, and from Tameside and Glossop PCT we have not received any more funding since Dr Bates and Dr Cornwell informed them of their decision regarding the new NHS contract. The NHS funding for Station House Dental Practice is substantially less this financial year than last. Despite this we are hoping to be able to offer capacity in the next few months within the NHS for patients who used to see Dr Cornwell and Dr Bates who wish to see another dentist at the practice. When this is possible we will place a notice on this page; on the notice boards at the practice, including in the Porch and will inform PALS. 13/03/06 Patients Drs Tamplin, Needham, Hall, Dixon and Dixon A letter has been sent 11th March outlining our intention to continue seeing existing patients under the NHS. It also gives details of our Station House Dental Plans for patients who may wish to use them. If you wish to be seen under the NHS then no reply is required. Please click here for more information 13/02/06 URGENT Exempt Adults and Children patients Dr Bates and Dr Cornwell We would like to provide an NHS service for Children and Exempt adults from 1st April, despite our concerns regarding the new NHS dental contract. 03/02/06 Patients of Dr Bates and Dr Cornwell As you may be aware substantial changes are occurring in NHS dentistry. The Government is changing the way dentists work, and are paid. They are also changing how patients pay for NHS treatment and cancelling all NHS registration from 31/3/06. Having evaluated these and other changes Dr Bates and Dr Cornwell have concluded the best way they can provide and improve on the quality of care is outside the NHS. He is touring Australia, then returning to work at Manchester Dental Hospital. His patients will be treated by Drs' Needham, Cornwell, Dixon, Idrees and Hall who will be working extra sessions. He joins us from Liverpool Dental Hospital. He is no stranger to the area having been brought up in Stalybridge. They held their meeting at the practice today as part of National Smile Week. They played games, had tooth brushing demonstrations, tried different healthy snacks and tried being Dentist and Nurse. Dr O'Malley and Dr Purvis will be working from Dr Cornwell's room and taking over care for Dr McGarr's patients. Patients who may find climbing the stairs difficult should mention this on booking appointments so that we can arrange for him to see you in one of the ground floor rooms. 3/7/2001 Congratulations to Rebecca and Allison They have both passed their Dental Nurse examination which will allow them to be Registered Dental Nurses. 21/6/2001 New Dental Nurse to start Natalie Wright is to join the practice starting on 26/6/2001 8/6/2001 A further Dentist is appointed to start at the practice in August 2001 Tariq Idrees has been appointed from a record number of applicants to start work at the practice in August 2001. He qualified at Manchester University. He will be working in the room currently used by Dr. McGarr, who will be occupying the new treatment room being prepared above Dr. Bates' room. 22/5/2001 Expansion begins Work is starting on converting the flat above the practice into an extension of our existing premises. The stairs currently blocked off will be opened up, and services laid to the upstairs rooms. Initially we will have one further treatment room, which Dr McGarr will be using, a staff room and staff kitchen facilities. 2/4/2001 Goodbye!
