NHS treatment

Patients pay one of three charges depending on the type of treatment provided.

Fees from 1st April 2012:-

£17.50 for treatment including Examination and Diagnosis.  If necessary, will include X-rays, scale & polish and planning for further treatment.

£48 for all necessary treatment as above and /or fillings, root canal treatment or extractions.

£209 for all necessary treatment above PLUS more complex treatment such as crowns, dentures or bridges.

You will pay one charge even if more than one visit is needed to complete a course of treatment.

£17.50 For urgent and out of hours treatment (further treatment after will be at one of the three bands above)

Please note all NHS charges are set by the Government and paid to the NHS

NHS treatment is free if:-

aged under 18,
aged 18 and in full-time education,
pregnant, or have had a baby in the 12 months before treatment starts,
an NHS in-patient and the treatment is carried out by the hospital dentist, or
an NHS Hospital Dental Service out-patient (although there may be a charge for dentures and bridges).

You are also entitled to receive free NHS dental treatment if, when the treatment starts, or when the charge is made:

you are getting, or your partner gets Income Support, income-based Jobseeker's Allowance, or Pension Credit Guarantee Credit,
you are entitled to, or named on, a valid NHS tax credit exemption certificate, or
you are named on a valid HC2 certificate.

If you are named on a valid HC3 certificate, you may be eligible for partial help with dental costs.
